A review of The Crown At Axford by Just love good food written on Monday 12th of April 2010
I do not enjoy writing a bad report for a dining experience however this warrants it.
We visited the crown [first time] Sunday for lunch.
Upon reading their menu it looked very pleaseing allbeit a tad overpriced. We ordered the steak and kidney pie mashed potato, roast potato and a side order of vegetables. They had no large bottles of water so were charged £3.20 for 2 tiny bottles instead!
The steak and kidney pie was rather kidnet-less over microwaved and genarally of poor quality. The mashed potato I returned as it was sporting several large darl solid remnants of rotten potato. This was duly returned with them removed and the potato being somewhat re-shaped! it was like glue tasted vinegary and pretty awful to the palate. The vegatbles consisted of rubbery microwaved carrots and french beans - we did leave most of these! - so if you are looking for traditional home cooked good food do not stop by the Crown! you won't find it here! oh and we paid 28.70 for this! ouch! .
