"Red card posted even though I was in!"

So apparently Royal Mail could not deliver today as I was not in to sign for the item! I have a dog who barks as soon as anyone steps on the drive and have been in sat in the lounge all morning to see the red card in the postbox at the bottom of the drive! Clearly they could not be bothered to walk up to the house and knock to collect my signature! Now trying to phone to see if I can collect it this evening and no answer! Something has to be done about the bad service especially seeing the other reviews, no other company would be allowed to get away with it!.
