A review of The Winkle by Andy written on Wednesday 6th of December 2006
Contrary to the "rubbish" review which i have just read, the winkle pub is actually a very welcoming pub. there is a large close-nit group of people who openly accept all newcomers to the pub. as with any pub, the reputation precedes it, however, to set the record straight - gone are the days when the winkle was the place to go for a fight and an argument. over the last ten years the owners have turned the pub around and shaken off the image of the old days. one of the focal points of the pub is the pool table and i would advice that you should come along and put your challenge up. alternatively, come along for a quiet drink with your other half. people are welcome in the winkle and all the regulars would argue that point. with food, pool nights, live entertainment, kareoke and the occassional theme night, i sure there is something that would appeal to you. .
